It's rough. I developed a lot of interest in character design because of the games in question, so to see them just take the cheap slop shortcut because they can is a real letdown.

The reasoning I could find was that it was a vast amount of work (~4000+ (!!) characters from the old games who had to look equal in quality to new ones), but at that point, why not just *not* include them? At that point, it's just content bloat for no reason

Pretty significant range difference between charged R2s and all other thrust attacks, too. They're effectively like Claymore R2s on a dagger.

out of curiosity, have you been able to make any tweaks to DS3's anti-aliasing as well? I remember noticing the jaggies here in TRC especially with all the spires

Basic ripostes and backstabs use the Carian Knight's Sword, Chariot plunging attacks use the Treespear, and dismounted enemies and larger poise-broken foes get a face full of Giant-Crusher.
