I don’t even know the qualities of Rhode Island pizza. While I’ve tried many styles and appreciate the variations, my home pizza is always going to be Massachusetts Greek.

I’m old enough to remember the days before pooper scooper laws

also remember visiting Paris in 1987, which did not at the time have the pooper scooper laws that had been around for about a decade here

I went through every proclamation once. The first to mention the Plymouth colony was JFK. Before the 1940s, the proclamations at most mentioned "an ancient tradition" of thanksgiving festivals.
The first time a Presidential Thanksgiving proclamation mentioned the Plymouth colony as being the source of Thanksgiving was JFK's 1962 proclamation. First mentions of the 'pilgrims' at all are by Truman, became a theme under Eisenhower.

Sometimes they sell a hand broom which is mostly just the rubber head without the yellow handle, would he like that?

Seen on my UK trip, boarding the train from Plymouth to London: a woman in a 1940s vintage polka dot dress, wellies, and rain slicker, holding a shovel and a rowan sapling with a wrapped root ball (or was it in a bucket?). Pretty sure she was ALSO a witch.

ha, I spent Tuesday helping a friend put up new cabinets in their kitchen so it would be done before Thanksgiving

I can see that! But, given the shipping, I stand by my endorsement of the rubber broom.

Oh, those ARE lovely and clearly a cut above the straw brooms you see at grocery or hardware stores.

Huh, nice! I’ve only met ones with straw that isn’t ideal for purpose.

Takeaway: get a rubber broom.

And then there's using a vacuum, which...if you have a good-sized floor attachment, okay, but you still have to switch to the edge tool for edges and corners, and somehow it never seems to get everything.

Swiffer dry sweeper or reusable microfiber equivalent: great for small dust, not bad for pet hair, but only aggregates the larger particles, rather than trapping them. Good for cutting down allergy dust. Doesn't replace a normal broom at all.

Also it has a squeegee edge which can be useful for other things. Might not get the very smallest particles compared to a synthetic fiber broom but it's a very subtle difference, and that stuff will get sorted out by mopping, or by...
