Hey folks, I'm gonna be moving at the end of the month, so now is probably as good a time as any to finally publish a ko-fi page. Any little bit would help make this move easier. ko-fi.com/rikodlc

I've had them before, it's AWFUL. Absolutely worth inspecting right away for them, even if it's an expensive hotel.

10. If you don't have a cash deposit that you need back or need a receipt, 99% of the time you don't have to visit the front desk at checkout if you aren't leaving early. It's more than okay to just leave the keys in your room and leave.

9. Use your own judgment but hotel breakfasts are usually perfectly fine to eat. Go wild. Just please do the staff a favor and ask if it's okay if you show up earlier than the posted time.

8. Blast the AC immediately. If it's not working try unplugging it and plugging it back in. If that doesn't work then tell the desk.

7a. If you have medicines that must be kept cold, don't depend on this. Ask the desk staff if you can use one of their fridges. 95% of the time they'll say yes.

7. If you want to use the fridge, the sad truth of the matter is that most hotel fridges don't work properly. I highly recommend getting a bucket of ice and putting it in the fridge to keep it cool.

6a. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE ROOMMATES WHO ARE NOT IN THE ROOM AT THE MOMENT, DO NOT ENGAGE THE LATCH AND DEADBOLT. They'll lock out every single key except for management level keys. Please don't make the desk worker call you or, worse, break into your room.

6. Once it's passed inspection, slap a Do Not Disturb sign on your door. This will stop housekeeping from knocking on your door at 7 am. I also recommend engaging the latch and deadbolt. Don't let people on tiktok scare you, these are more than enough to keep you safe.

5. Once you get to your room, if you brought your bags in with you already, put them on a high place like a desk and immediately strip the bed to look for bed bugs. What you're looking for is bugs themselves, dirt, or tiny bloodstains. If you see them, find another hotel.

4. Hotels don't need your confirmation number. Just say "I'm here to check in" and give them your ID. If you have any questions or requests NOW is the time to ask them. Desk staff gets grumpy if you come back 3-4 times with extra questions.

3. Please please please double check to make sure you're booking the correct city. Most hotels won't refund you if you accidentally booked for Lafayette, LA, instead of Lafayette, IN.
rikodlc.art
2. Before booking, check to see if there's an incidental deposit. It'll be in the fine print of your room's details, usually on the last step before booking. If you're tight on your budget, try to find places that don't charge or accept cash deposits.

1. Right off the bat you want to start with making the decision on whether you want quality or cheap. If you're just making stops to sleep on a trip, cheap is good enough, but if you're staying multiple nights, consider splurging for some more comfort.

Thinking about it since I've stayed at a bunch of hotels this week - as someone who worked in hotels for 11 years, this is what I do every time I need a hotel room:

The Granblue Versus subreddit mod pinning their own comment explaining that Meg and Mari aren't a couple is actually peak comedy.
