In Portland, I hear stories of poorly managed shelters. People need to be treated well, employees need to be able speak up without getting into trouble, staff can’t request favors for providing “shelter”, etc.
People need their privacy.

Got it.

Learning how dangerous Cupp is, I don’t know if young protesters would be equipped to handle him. Would there be unintended consequences of them getting hurt?
December 2, 2025 at 12:49 PM
Valid question.

I found out via Bluesky. Do people listen better when the warnings come from social media?

The younger protesters aren’t on Bluesky.

People do need to pay attention to the Feds to watch for escalation. It can result in lots of tear gas, pepper spray balls.

It isn’t always so intense at ICE.

I don’t see people having the bandwidth to see dangerous people like Cupp (assuming he is acting chill).

There are various characters on the sidelines.
There are people smoking marijuana on the sidelines. They seem more sedated.
If you are with your friends, then you are focused on them.

It has been a really surreal experience.

… and witnessing the Feds being so aggressive towards the protesters.
It is witnessing abuse in real-time. There are so many 3 letter federal agencies at ICE ranging from the FBI to the BOP.

Then there are the confrontations between ICE and the protesters when cars enter or exits ICE.

At times there has been a lot to process or take in at ICE. I am surprised more people aren’t disassociating.

There has been the: loud helicopter doing surveillance, drone, music and cute inflatables, MAGA agitators, the media, noise from the bullhorns and yelling at ICE , and

Very sad.
What happened to the other two dogs?

Yes.
I would fast forward.

He did say something to the effect of telling the FBI he had thoughts about ending his life (not sure if it was past thoughts) and that he wouldn’t hurt others.

Wonder when the 200 ft limit from ICE will be lifted?

I only listened to a little of Will’s livestream (not how I want to spend my time).
He said:
he is a troll
FBI contacted him; can’t verify it was the FBI
He has info that he has shared or will share to the FBI that could put Tommy in prison (related to the Airbnb?)

Thank you!
November 27, 2025 at 11:13 PM
I appreciate that you are attuned with what is happening at ICE.
Not everyone understands.

I try to stay off social media on Thanksgiving.
I am out of town and a post on Twitter has made me worried for a couple of days.
Allegedly Will’s private DM was posted.
Will posted that he was contacted by the FBI (assuming it was after he posted).
November 27, 2025 at 8:52 PM
He is one dangerous guy.
November 27, 2025 at 1:16 PM
I don’t think the young protesters there were aware.
They hang around other young people. They seem pretty focused.
There are a lot of characters that show up.
November 26, 2025 at 9:31 PM
Having some understanding isn’t the same as speaking for them.
November 26, 2025 at 5:45 PM
3) The reason I was vague about their beliefs is because they are on the front lines and I am not.
To respect their voice, I can’t claim to speak for them.
I do have some understanding.
November 26, 2025 at 5:27 PM
2)
You wanted conversations.
I am advocating for face-to-face conversations.

As you are probably aware, the people you want to talk are on the front lines witnessing and experiencing extreme abuse of the fed gov. Their emotions are high.

They won’t be available to converse on your terms.
November 26, 2025 at 5:26 PM
1)

It is accurate (referring to your original post) that the people you want to have conversations with aren’t on Bluesky.

The reality is conversations and activism is happening outside of Bluesky.
November 26, 2025 at 5:06 PM
Conversations aren’t one-way.
In my conversation with you, I suggested the idea of you spending time with the protesters.
November 25, 2025 at 5:15 AM
You started the thread of wanting to have conversations with people who are pissed off at City Council. You stated they aren’t represented on Bluesky.

I responded to your message that you will best be served by having direct conversations (face to face).
November 25, 2025 at 5:02 AM
I know how conversations work.

From my discussions with you guys, I am getting the sense you haven’t spent anytime at the protest site talking to people. This is a bigger need than short replies on Bluesky.
November 25, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Lisa,
Given the high stakes and the complexity of the revoking the permit process (it isn’t a two-step process like the protesters think), I do think more face-to-face discussions are warranted. Social media isn’t a good medium.
November 24, 2025 at 9:47 PM
That is fair.
I don’t have much engagement with the owner of that account.
With the younger protesters who want the ICE permit revoked, I do think they are doing their best.
