You have a good point, but the mainstream media in the US aren’t clearly labeling Trump’s actions as despotism. They’re normalizing Trump’s actions instead. That being the cases, it’s hard for the Dems to get traction for an anti-despotism campaign.

Sorry, no. This is completely untrue. The police in Japan are on-duty 24/7. And the Yakuza still exist in Japan but any-gang laws have substantially reduced their power.

Japan is more culturally homogeneous than the US, and immigrants are expected to learn Japanese to become citizens, but genetically Japanese are a mix of mainly people from all over East Asia with lots of folks from other places mixed in. 2/2

Naturalized citizen of Japan here. Japan has a well defined path to citizenship for immigrants and about 10,000 become citizens every year. And children of mixed marriages are citizens of Japan like all others (won’t say there’s never any discrimination against them but not much). 1/

I thought anyone with a status of residence (在留資格) has to register(or they’re illegal), while folks on tourist visas don’t have to.

Changing the U.S. senate so that each state no longer has exactly two Senators requires a Constitutional Amendment. This needs 2/3 approval of both Houses of Congress and ratification by 3/4 of the states.

不動産を学ぶ人向けのチャンネルなので視聴者もビジネス的視点で興味深いです。
「危なくない所が逆に危ないって、まるでトレードと一緒だな」「御用学者に渡す研究費は『広告宣伝費』なんだよ。南海トラフ対策に投資したい。そういう目論見を見抜かないとダメ」

あと、当日、目が内出血で片方真っ赤で「目が充血しすぎ」「眼科いけ」とコメントされましたが、たまになるやつで、診察も受け回復しましたのでご心配なく！笑

I moved to Japan in 1984, joined the faculty of the University of Tokyo, retired in 2017, and became Prof Emeritus. I still live in Tokyo, as a Japanese citizen since 2022. If anyone wants to move as an academic, it worked out well for me. YMMV.
