Journalist. Politics nerd. Racing punter. Bad golfer.
And being egged on by the people who told them to vote Brexit.

So much of the monstering of the Govt is arse-covering and blame shifting. Sadly, people will buy it.

Who would want to be an MP now if you had any alternative

Reading the Jeremy Haywood book right now and interesting to see that Blair even thought that back in the day.

Also a reminder of how many crises countries go through - people thought Blair was cooked after 18months too, fuel crisis, foot and mouth, rebellions, F1 scandal etc. people forget that

So many of the political class are utterly radicalised now. MP’s are now content creators, firing out videos and cutting around like Roger Cook. It’s insane

Also, journalism convincing itself Twitter was real life and representative of anything has been incredibly destructive.

Have you seen the graph charting their approval ratings - nosedived within 60 days. That’s not normal or rational, someone is turning the dials somewhere.

They’ve had a bad 18 months with too many mistakes, but I genuinely think this country is ungovernable in the face of this hostility

Argument doesn’t work because they’ve been conditioned to distrust everything that doesn’t come from their own side (or glorious leader)

Watching democracy wither and die in real time is fascinating and horrifying at the same time

Tens of millions literally voted against their own interests and for things they thought are mental because they’ve had their brains frazzled by Facebook.

100% We stood back and watched the right create their entire own information ecosystem and did nothing about it. Just assumed people were rational and they’d come to their senses.

The post-US election polling on the popularity of either side’s policies was terrifying.

The failure of Govts to regulate the tech companies at the outset then miss another chance to when it started to became clear how dangerous it was will astound the historians of the future.

People’s brains are pickled and I genuinely don’t know how you snap them out of it

The moment for getting social media under control was the last US election. Sadly the Americans voted for more lies and disinformation. Will take a full-on collapse of MAGA for that chance to come round again.
November 28, 2025 at 9:19 PM
Until you find a way to stop social media poisoning people’s heads and rewarding division, it feels impossible to win the battle against Populism. Maybe stave it off at an election or two, but the levels of radicalisation means isn’t going away.

Farage knows he’s not cut out to be PM and he certainly doesn’t want the scrutiny that comes with it. He wants to be touring America making money from the think tank speaking circuit. The whole thing has got very, very real. How does he get out of it? Can he now? His backers want their return surely
November 25, 2025 at 10:52 PM
It’s interesting that article made those allegations and remains on their website today. Clearly never challenged.

I suspect there’s plenty of people in his adult life who can/will come forward. 3.5yrs of being PM in waiting is a LONG time.

Will go full MAGA victimhood, of course. As always.

Why did he not sue over this in the Guardian, 1999?
November 25, 2025 at 10:38 PM
And it was being written about as far back as 1999
November 25, 2025 at 10:36 PM
None, unless people from his adult life like former colleagues come forward. He’ll portray himself as the victim and everyone will move on
November 25, 2025 at 10:32 PM
And a concerted attempt by sinister forces to wreck our democracy. The sooner we accept it’s under attack the better
