Is it just me or do a lot of SWEs have a findom relationship with Claude Code and Cursor?

Happy Valentines Day! I made a social network for sharing what you love... and what you hate!

Made with o3-mini-high in websim. Post here: websim.ai/@rob/lovehat...

My dog had a nervous breakdown from me watching a show with a fire alarm beeping without headphones on.

These guys used to be wolves, what happened???

Dog owners, I have a problem. Bennie's **highly accurate** internal clock says that his first dinner is at 5:00 pm, and his second is at 9:00 pm. His clock does not recognize daylight savings time. He's sulking.

Would you feed him an hour earlier to satiate the beast?

I love this one, where it says "one egg, infnite possibilites" while giving this family more eggs than anyone has any idea what to do with that are all either raw or hard boiled

I think DALL-E 3 misspellings are cute tbh. Last year it couldn’t even get letters.

It’s growing so fast ❤️

Most people never revisit their notes. They make decisions and come up with ideas based on recent memory, vs. a lifetime of experience and insight.

I love how every link to this page, "Hypertext enables communication with high information density," is an example of its own point

Aside: I like how this version of the meme does not have an IQ bell curve in it. To me, the image evokes someone trying to level up from their simple system, struggling to hold a bunch of moving parts together, and then defaulting to the simple system with what they learned.

An excellent feature in Notability that I'm shocked hasn't made it into other note taking apps:

- You can record audio while typing or handwriting notes
- In the playback, clicking on a specific part of your notes jumps to the timestamp in the recording

Fellas I just WON MY GIRL A GIANT SQUISHY STUFFED ANIMAL AT THE FAIR by breaking a beer bottle with a baseball.

Boyfriend bucket list item achieved ✅

Reading about Clippy

Seems like a good chunk of the complaints come down to "don't make me tell you twice."

Besides that its ability to accurately guess user intent + surface relevant material were probably super constrained by the tech

This is my attempt at piecing together notes on different perspectives on developing expert intuition, adjacent to good taste. They're pretty old notes, but they'll make it in the book somewhere

And a blog post on my approach to developing my intuition: https://robhaisfield.com/notes/hyper-learning

Realizing now that I'm gonna have to talk about Clippy at some point in my Continuous Onboarding book

Bennie lazily contorting

Rob, explain Continuous Onboarding right now, in one breath, standing on one foot.

Btw I'm thrilled to be writing a book about it, covering behavioral science / game design principles + case studies so you can see your software apps through my lenses. I'm accepting clients while I'm writing 😄

If you invest in user acquisition without a product designed to reliably keep them invested, you're wasting money and effort that would be better directed to product improvements.

Continuous onboarding is core to your company's bottom line

I want heat vision, personal dashboard HUDs so my life feels like a video game of my creation, never forget a name, get live translation / subtitles in a multilingual convo, to leave digital sticky notes and widgets around the house...

but monitors everywhere is cool AR too I guess 🤷‍♂️

Bennie is a little too big to be a lap dog, but that's all he wants to be. Unfortunately, I've failed to find a desk chair wide enough to include him.

So I have to choose between screen space enhanced productivity at my desk or cuddles on the couch and more casual work.

iVision Pro fixes this.

I've been playing so much Tears of the Kingdom lately that I got weirdly excited by the #WWDC23 announcement that they were going to add topographic views to Maps.

Legend of Zelda made topographic maps click in a way Geology 101 never could.
