Related, one of the approaches has you in this truck. I was confused why there was 5 spots for the multiplayer character, but this is actually so the cutscene can reflect whether someone went in the passenger seat or not. The scripts *try* and reflect where you actually were sat.

I briefly thought that rockstar had a unused cutscene variant of a velum approach to Cayo.
But no, it's just that no sane person goes into Cayo aggressive so I had literally never seen this until now.
So maybe you also haven't seen this before :p

In a Last Dose cutscene there is a bit where the lights go out and the characters are only briefly illuminated by gunshots
Rather amusingly, the mocap actors actually held the poses instead of just freezing it and you can see them trying to stay still when the lights are on.

i seriously have more issues trying to quick join to get a quick 10-15% than the mantrap at this point
just infinite loading, or people infinitely joining

Rockstar created a very high quality asset for a single camera angle in a single cutscene

This "bottle holder" so they could have beer bottles on the arcade machines in the casino heist celebration cutscene. They are visible for all of wh1 second.

You can also see their hierarchy of sounds where they build up sound effects from many pieces.
Again, we can compare to CodeWalker's equivalent (which also gives a clearer view on this particular sound)

You can also see a map of ambient zones, rules, and emitters. Which is fun because we can compare it to the audio view in the CodeWalker tool :p

GTA 5 has a rather advanced audio system.
One of the interesting bits is the game has the means to synthesize sounds in real time, which is used quite often.
Including for ambient dubstep as shown here in a 2014 talk by Alistair MacGregor

Underneath the Diamond Casino heist interior are some models with text on them, outside the viewable area.

These are mostly used as props that store the light data for areas.
The vault one contains 363 lights in fact.

Often in cutscenes R* will have the ailerons on planes act like flaps/spoilers. Probably because flaps/spoilers are not modelled/rigged on most plane models.
But it does make for scenes like this where they are doing impossible things (both down)

The AmbientRule dictates it triggers from 9PM to 5PM, and I think if im interpreting it correctly, max once every 10 minutes.

There is a "mystery" about a wolf howling in a tunnel near the sawmill in GTA 5.
This is in fact not special to the tunnel at all. an is audible in all of the paleto forest.
whether it is a reference to a "lone wolf" found in california is unclear, but the tunnel isn't special.

This my worst fun fact yet:
I have calculated the optimal seat for minimizing animation times in GTA Online's Blackjack.

It's the center right seat (seat 2) for both the male and female dealer.
(However, the male dealer is quicker overall by 0.14 seconds)

RDR2 & GTA 6 use PBR rendering, they also use a new system for characters called "metapeds"
Subsequently the clothing assets texture naming changed quite a lot
Below is comparisons of normal GTA 5 naming, RDR2's naming, and the boxers which have naming more inline with RDR2/GTA6
