This week in #elitedangerous.
I'd only just found enough triangles for my Type-8! now I really have to up my game.

Those of you who already know me as a Lakon pilot will have no surprise at my excitement over the new T11.
Work starts on porting the new ship soooon.

Three different chicken, smoked salmon, bread, babaganoosh.

Someone stole my seat!
This cutie is enjoying the night air with us.

It's been a hella week. So proud of our little space game, and the rewarding efforts of a dedicated team pulling together. A comfortable seat, a pleasant tipple, and living my best life. Looking forward to brunch and bbq tomorrow!

We adopted lil Xena and her orange brother Gizmo at the end of last year after a litter of seven was found in a shed near here. They still use the original carrier as a bed, although they used to both fit in there with room to spare!
I just need to explain that breakfast isn't served until eight...

Lil Xena just had her first nom of #sushi and this #cat is now hooked!

After much experimentation, and in the name of science, I've managed to exactly replicate office coffee using a home setup.
And can use my data to recalibrate the office machine to produce a passable drink.
Grind size was the linchpin, but mass and ratio also have to be exactly wrong.

The triangle count on this minimal Lakon Forklift is budget breaking and there is so much detail missing. At least the blue-white supergiant looks passable.

This 2Mhz 6502 is backed by an enhanced maths co-processor to calculate filled geometry.

Back in black!
#6502 #retrocomputing #elitedangerous
Yea. I can do binary systems.

Eight colours allows pretty much all main sequence stars.
My circles are bad because the Mode2 pixel aspect and my maths is lazy. And I don't have sunspots and ejections yet.
But this is a good proof of concept.

Caught the calm of the early morning and warmth of the sunrise on this spectacular spring Sunday.
Enjoy the little things.

I don't mean to cat shame, but lil gizmo ate all the food. I'm mostly worried and a tiny bit proud.
March 19, 2025 at 8:32 AM
Yeap. This happened.

Beeb Master 6502-Emulator, stock instruction set. 2Mhz. Raspberry Pi Tube-Coprocessor.
Full screen Mode-2, no vsync interrupt.
Filled and shaded, around 16fps.
This is the tumbling Cobra title screen, no flight model. You can achieve the impossible if you code hard enough.
March 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM
Yeah. I can draw meshes with colour lines, all eight colours are available, and enough wiggle room to add a few extra triangles to each ship.
#retrocomputing #elite
A few dead pixels because of a bug in my line removal.
And no backface culling yet, but the game is afoot.

Its #Retrocomputing #Elite time.
I've been quiet on this, trying to maximise pixel throughput but am now rendering lines on the coprocessor and rasterizing on my (emulated) 6502.
Veterans may realise how sneaky this antialiasing is, and I'm hoping it'll look good on a CRT.

This #Caturday has exhausted the little furry piranhas, they still both fit in a single kitty carrier but will soon outgrow it.

Heya #dnd #retrotoy people! I completed the set.

While the composition as a whole looks fine, the plastic, joints, articulation, balance... just everything is bad once you have it in hand.

Two stars for quality, but it does make a cracking display if you don't feel like you've sold out.
January 13, 2025 at 8:56 AM
What a prime specimen! Any #retrotoy people out there got some good customs, repaints, or exclusives to inspire me?

#Caturday rearranges shelves so the terror twins have new cubes to explore each week. At the moment they have just one blank space, that Xena used to pounce on her brother with maximum momentum.

Hello #cat people! We used the holiday season to adopt two #kittens They are boldly exploring their confines but are still way too small to be free range.
Any advice on cat proofing a house will be greatly appreciated!

The technique is a kind of block based renderer. A little bit like P-Frames and some memory tricks similar to IEC-11172. Yes I am a graphics programming nerd.
This weird blocky thing is sufficient proof of concept.
A mode 1 screen at &3000 at 2mhz, similar enough to the target platform.

OK #Retrotoy people. I'm one cavalier short of this #D&D gang. Let's get this party started! Or finished anyway.
As a collection they have something, but each individual figure has it's flaws. 7/10 would adventure again.

I am down a VERY DEEP rabbit hole on my #BBCMicro #RetroComputing adventure. Limited to 160x256 pixels but using all eight colours, the project is starting to take shape.

Hello #cat people! These two illegally smol #cats have entered our lives today.
Discovered in a shed, where momma cat had found a dry place for a litter, these two have landed on their feet and have been given a place to play and rest in our home and hearts.

Now work has quietened down for a moment, I've made time to play with some #Dinobots in my #Retrotoy collection.
Vintage G1 Snarl looking tiny next to it's chrometastic gigasaur counterpart.

The engineering and transformation of this guy and his iconic silhouette in both forms. Perfection.

It has begun.
Raise your glass when the fourth wall is broken. Twice if they break character.

What's your #movie of choice? Can you beat a tawny port as your #crimbo tipple of choice?

Matters of scale, sculpt, & style are usually the bane of collection and curation but sometimes you have to embrace the chaos.

Generous birthday gifts have Macklin, Scully, and Woo represent FBI with Bravestar centre stage in this enforcement shelf.
Who would you add?
