To me, this ⬇️ means outright domination. There is nothing to suggest the US views Canada as a "partner", let alone "friend".

Canadians have to make a choice: Independence or the United States. Vassal or sovereign. Those are the choices we need to discuss.
Our leaders have already wasted a year missing the point. We need to get serious.

Canada and Canadian business also need to finally let go of the fantasy that a renegotiated USMCA would deliver anything but punitive terms. We should instead assume the USMCA is already gone and act accordingly.

Canada needs to rethink what military interoperability with the US means, so that we can independently take care of non-negotiable like arctic and coastal defence without US control. Which means no F-35s.

Carney’s entire strategy assumes that Canada’s problem is economic: tariffs and a capricious US. He’s wrong.
The real problem is that the US has embraced dominance as its governance strategy. As a result, Carney’s policies simply aren’t suited to preserving Canadian independence.

🧵 On 6 December 1989 a man entered a mechanical engineering classroom at Montreal’s École Polytechnique with a semi automatic weapon. Separating women and men, he shot the women, screaming, “You are all feminists”
14 women were murdered. Today we remember their names and not his.
