Tarik, middle peaking through front row. I knew his brother Eric, also died with their brothers Jair and Shawn. Ithe 70s were forever ago, but it always been awkward to reckon with the kool-aid jokes. And the charisma of Jim Jones. This is the root of my "trouble in paradise" paranoia of utopias.

Currently writing about: Tarik and I were the same age, friends through grade and middle school when he and his brothers left for Jonestown, Guyana. Their mum, who would give me favorable updates, was meant to join them. After the mass suicide/murder event, she negotiated their burial in Trinidad 1)

I meant to post this writing Robert Wilson contributed for afterword to my 2013 monograph Pleading In The Blood: the Art and Performances of Ron Athey’s, editor Dominic Johnson on Intellect Press. He did a brilliant reading of this before my lecture at Watermill summer ‘13 RIP 💗💗💗
