I reopened github.com/rstudio/rstu... for review and referenced this discussion. No promises, but at least we'll review, which will include one of the maintainers of renv so we'll have a good idea of feasibility.

You're welcome, and no problem! FWIW, I was testing something this week that required going back to 2025.05.0, and I ran into this nuisance, which was... well, very annoying. And it made me a bit grumpy. :D

What version of RStudio are you using? We had a few issues with this (see below) that are resolved in the current release, 2025.05.1+513. Hopefully this will relieve your headache!

Hi! Apologies for the English--I don't know Japanese, and used Google Translate.

If you want to revert to the previous behavior in which the stack trace isn't automatically called, turn off "Tools -> Global Options -> Console -> Automatically expand..."

Glad you like the feature! Even internally we've been clamoring for this, so we're all happy to have introduced this.

Haha you were clear--I was just kidding. I need to use "jk" more often because my jokes often sound like I'm serious. 🙃

I'm glad you like the feature, and thank you for the kind words!

Hi! Are you able to tell whether the problem is only with rig, or also with installing and running RStudio? I read through your posts, but I confess that my knowledge of Fedora is fairly shallow, so please forgive me if you've addressed this.

I can probably go back and check the exact date that this was introduced, but I think that your point is that you appreciate this functionality. 🙂 Glad you like it!

What version are you using, and what's the column limit that you're seeing? Version 2023.06.0+421 from two years ago had a problem in which you couldn't move past 50 columns. This was patched a month later.

I'd say "Batman and Robin" but my coworkers might be mad at me.

I meant click any key, not click with the mouse. 🙄

Sweet!

@econmaett.bsky.social @transport-talk.bsky.social The splash screen should go away after the IDE is loaded. If I understand correctly, you're seeing the splash screen never go away unless clicked. Is this correct? If so, can one of you file a bug report at github.com/rstudio/rstu... ? Thanks!

See also Gary Ritchie's comments, which talk about setting `RS_NO_SPLASH = 1` which is easy on Windows and Linux.

Oh! That's not good. Can you file a bug at github.com/rstudio/rstu... ? This way we can look at it as a team, instead of just me on Bluesky. :)

FWIW, the current version of RStudio, 2024.09.1, supports Ubuntu 24 without the workaround.

We had a twofer: Apple just released MacOS 15, and previous versions of RStudio Desktop don't work on it, either. 😔 The latest version of RStudio works on it--fortunately the problem was caught in time, as MacOS 15 and RStudio 2024.09 were released within days of each other.
September 30, 2024 at 3:01 PM
Ah! You need the latest version of RStudio Desktop, Cranberry Hibiscus 2024.09.0+374. There's a version for Ubuntu 24.04 at posit.co/download/rst...

If you don't want to upgrade, there's a workaround described at the end of this issue github.com/rstudio/rstu... but it's unsupported.
September 30, 2024 at 2:55 PM
What version of Ubuntu were you using and then upgraded to, if I may ask?
September 26, 2024 at 6:52 PM
Would you be willing to file a bug in the RStudio open-source repo, including a reproducible example? Thanks!

Eh, they're basically the same thing, right?

J/K. I can reproduce this. I checked the dictionary, and phenotype is in there but genotype is not. Odd! Unfortunately, we can't control what's in the dictionary. So this is an interesting but unsatisfying "works as expected. 😔
September 3, 2024 at 4:40 PM
OK, I've got to know, how this is happening? Because I then want to ask internally why this is happening.
August 26, 2024 at 7:19 PM
Not saying that we're going to support this, but: That's pretty cool!
