🧪🦑 Last summer, we captured incredible selfie footage of @roposrov.bsky.social, took ground-breaking temperature measurements with an extra long probe & spotted a rare squid with eggs with the NEPDEP 2024 team.

🧪🦑 On the way up from the skate nursery on Day 5, our @roposrov.bsky.social Team sprung to action when they spotted and managed to catch video of a Gonatus squid brooding its eggs!

🧪 It has auto- focus & tracking, which means that we can tell it to find an eye on a fish & it will track the eye & continue to capture sharp imagery of it if the fish swims away.

We installed it for our last mission & are now using it for all our imagery!

The mechanism that makes the LARS (Launch & Recovery System) function consists of the HPU (Hydraulic Power Unit), the level wind and the cable drum.

🧪 Our USBL pole will hang off the side of the Tully. It receives acoustic signals from the beacon mounted on @roposrov.bsky.social.

This information, together with the GPS & position of the ship, gives us the relative position of @roposrov.bsky.social.
