I got shingles for the first time at 32.

It was unmercifully painful, even with meds. Only a few things I've experienced were worse.

Get the vaccine.
I remember talking ~shingles in class and thinking, “I could probably handle the pain”…

In my 40s, shingles emerged in my hairline and spread across my face.

I’m here to tell you, it hurt like a mother&^%er, and that was before it spread to my eye.

People can go blind from it.

Get the vaccine.
All over my FB people talking about their bad experiences with shingles vax and dissuading each other from getting it! We need to give people real info on how to mitigate the symtoms caused by vaccines because vaccines are always better than meeting a virus unprepared. Yet drs aren't coaching ppl

Reasons I’m so glad I left Alabama, episode 237.
First Amendment Alert! From the Crimson White: The University of Alabama has shuttered two student publications aimed at women and students of color and cited AG Pam Bondi’s anti-DEI memo as its reason.

I really hope this is the beginning of a wave of pro athletes coming out in men’s sports.
Tennis pro Mika Brunold has come out as gay via a heartfelt Instagram post.

He is the second male tennis pro to go public about being gay in the space of 12 months, with Brazil’s Joao Lucas Reis da Silva having come out in December 2024.

Doctors, famous for having no problems giving trans people treatment
It's very simple: you struggled to access your bodily autonomy, and eventually got it, and trans people did the same. Now you're using the arguments that were used to harm you, to harm others. That last part I cannot make sense of.

Aliens is one of those ones that I feel like is not really like the others.

Do I think intelligent live exist somewhere in the universe? Absolutely.

Are they here sticking things up people's butts? Probably not.
New polling on aliens
% of U.S. adult citizens who believe the following definitely or probably exist:
Aliens 56%
Bigfoot 28%
The Yeti 23%
The Loch Ness Monster 22%
Chupacabra 16%

Well this is a terrifying development.
This is basically making it so trans people who were adopted and had their birth records sealed cannot obtain a passport at all. This will also ensnare cis people who were adopted and have clerical errors on their records or are suspected of being trans.
this is fucking new, i think im gonna be sick

how tf am i supposed to get an old birth cert if it was fucking sealed by the state

oh but religious records are valid dw

If we're going to have AI, we need to be using it to make things better. Like, I've been using it to help me collect data and fill out some very tedious financial forms.

We should not be using it to replace the creativity at the heart and soul of the human experience.

In the 2000s, just ten percent of Americans believed the government was doing a poor job on economic policy. Today, that's 64%, higher than at any point in our history, beating the oil shocks, wage and price controls, the great inflation, any major recession, financial crisis or pandemic.
