Dylan was a big influence on everybody from Seger to Levi Stubbs in the mid-‘60s. Now that Mark says it, I can hear that kind of stridency in Sonny’s voice, especially on his older stuff. #AT40

Also one of the greatest drum showcases ever.

In Grand Rapids, Mich., “Shanty” is just as well known as “Sunshine.” #AT40

Ironically, Mickey Newbury’s best known country hit is also called “Sunshine.” He also gets a shout out on another #AT40 hit in summer ‘77.

It's the one that didn't stay on the radio here. The others are in the 200-300x a week range at Alternative radio. "Anger" is around 40-50x (which is a little more than I expected).

Indifferent to "Wonderwall" and "Champagne." Think "Don't Look Back in Anger" is one of the most gorgeous songs ever, and regard it the way an older UK generation does "Waterloo Sunset" (by the other battling brothers). Go figure. Of course, that's the one that's forgotten here now.

Watched “The Matrix” this weekend and had a similar revelation. The last decade (at least) has been “cool, fellas. Let’s build that!”

As a reporter covering the radio industry, I first heard that one in 1990 when Bell Biv DeVoe’s “Poison” was the first hit to use “h*.”

And if you think that's a great missing Neil Young song, try Ian Thomas' follow-up to "Painted Ladies." www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eCT...

Not until tonight did I realize this mid-'80s Canadian picture sleeve might have been an homage.

I think Ariana Grande was also trying to follow Bieber into a place of nonchalant R&B cred. When she decided to make radio records again, the muse wasn't quite there. It makes you further appreciate that Taylor Swift wanted hits and could still generate them.

When I first heard “Him” on the radio, it was on an old-line MOR AM station which ended up apologizing after the first play because listeners took exception to “no one gets to get it for free.” #AT40 #Earworm

My audience (on a regular screen) wasn't nearly as lively, but I still appreciated it.

Watching the first one last December made it hard to sink into a fantasy world that was no longer fantasy.

I thought this one would be harder to watch; in the end, I appreciated the optimism.

There are a surprising number of songs that were inspired by losing a parent or loved one, but rewritten to sound like relationship songs. Just found out that Train's "Drops of Jupiter" is one of those. #AT40
