New delivery from Narnia! Will be revisiting this alongside the traditional Box of Delights viewing this year. Very much looking forward to seeing Chris Chapman’s documentary!

…these guys are pretty much Evil Quality Street.

(Christmas Acid Re)flux?

(Disclaimer: I like Flux a lot. I know you don’t. We can still be friends though)

I did a Snowbound Stories thing for DWM a few years back which probably covers my thoughts on this (and I cheekily/tackily included one of my own, which I was assured was ok!)

Some lovely Terry Pratchett hardback finds in the charity shop today — with the proper Josh Kirby art!

These are early 2000 reprints, not firsts, but still a bargain and a nice alternative to my faded paperbacks

I always think Sutekh’s robes look a bit like a hovercraft skirt. Presumably if he wasn’t stuck to that chair by the eye of Horus he’d be gliding round that purple tomb set accompanied by the monstrous roar of many fans…

The Netflix algorithm is now throwing Jacob Elordi films at me… Not entirely sure I’m the target audience for ‘The Kissing Booth’

Unless it’s a Frankenkiss?

Ok, not exactly, but it’s definitely got a recycled Light Entertainment vibe

I knew I’d seen that revolving silver door in Blake’s 7: Killer before…

That Avon / Blake power dynamic

Was reading DWM’s fascinating Susan / Carole Ann Ford feature and woke up with the phrase

‘Findooclare’s Crospy Pancooks’

…going round my head

Off to test Husband’s Spanish* by seeing how many Tori Amos Little Earthquakes tracks he recognises

*he doesn’t know any, but he does know Tori, and he does know me, so I’m expecting a good strike rate

I do!

I think I got Cushing TARDIS vibes (before the New Series made that look the default)

But of course. I’m so sorry I omitted Stevie Nicks

We noticed you from across the Cavern and like your style

I got a new/old tape deck just recently so I really need to be careful I don’t find another old tech niche to explore…

I have DVD-R copies of a few of the Who laserdiscs somewhere. They were definitely better than the VHS!

Laserdiscs or copies of the Five Doctors? (I say, only half jokingly…)

I collect vinyl and I love the Five Doctors art on the laserdisc. I just figure I could display it alongside my records

(The issue is I’d then probably be tempted to want to play it. And I really don’t need a laserdisc player)

You can find some fabulous things on BBC Genome - here's an article by John Masefield written on the occasion of The Midnight Folk (the book that precedes The Box of Delights) being adapted for radio by John Keir Cross

Bara Brith!
Can’t remember who posted the Nigella recipe on my timeline but tried it today and it’s lovely 🥰
(Halved the amount of sugar though. It’s still plenty sweet due to all the fruit)

Today I went to see the Alfred Buckham exhibition at the Portrait Gallery. I’ve had a copy of his famous aerial photograph of Edinburgh on my wall for years - it was fascinating to find out more about his work and how the pictures were achieved
