Our damaged apricot tree has had a woodpecker taking advantage of the split open bark. Looks like a squirrel might have used the hole to stash two hazelnuts. But the woodpecker must've come back and now only the shells are left stuck in the hole

One thing that helped my plants is to cut off the older leaves. The plant only needs those closer to where the fruits are, towards the tip. I leave maybe 3-5 leaves down from the first courgette.
