Yeah, that is gross. On the other hand, I am someone’s work mom, and I love it. So does she, and so does her actual mom.

Great advice! My mom once pulled me aside on a family vacation to ask me if I was depressed because I kept staying in my room & didn’t want to participate in any activities. I was reading Game of Thrones and had just gotten to the red wedding.

For sure!

That is an excellent point. We can also talk about that without getting into moral debates though. Viability is a scientific question, yes? But I think a better approach is to focus on making it easier for women to choose not to abort in the first place.

With respect, this whole line of argument drives me NUTS. No one will ever change anyone else’s mind on when life begins. We should be discussing the societal issues that cause people to choose abortion in the first place. These culture wars are meant to distract us from the real issues.

Oh my goodness!! I had that book when I was little! Haven’t thought of it in years, but now I remember it vividly. 💜

I unironically and wholeheartedly agree! Those apps are grotesque. I use Find My when my cat sweeps my earbuds under the couch and that’s it.

As an avid knitter I’d put Make a little farther down, but otherwise, yeah.

Yes!! He is an amazing actor! He played a similarly nuanced role in Halt and Catch Fire, which btw was an absolutely fantastic show. I will never understand why it didn’t generate more buzz.

Yes!! That series (it was just a trilogy back then) really leveled me up as a reader. The slower pace, the evocative imagery, and oh my god the place names. And it’s every bit as good 40+ years later, which is not always the case with old childhood faves.

I just took a nearly identical pic.

Oh honey, it’s not a phase. My PO’B obsession started ~30 years ago & is still going strong. Wishing you joy of your first circumnavigation!
