The lesson from France is clear: the left has to work together at the next general election to stop fascism and prevent Nigel Farage from getting the keys to Number 10.

I do think Starmer thinking things were basically fine before does explain a lot tbh
Keir Starmer - "I’ve always wanted a Labour government but I’ve never worried about the future of our country under a Tory government."

The words of a man so insulated from the harm done by the Tories he felt no compulsion not to continue the harm not being done to him and his.

A little known fact about Attlee. He faced Churchill as Tory leader three times in UK general elections with Labour winning the popular vote in each: 1945, 1950. 1951. Churchill was PM for nine years but never once won the popular vote at a general election.

Britain isn’t deep in crackpot NF politics by accident, but because our political and media elite willed this into existence, for their own ends. This is the result of the choices made by our most important people at every key juncture, and they will fight to the death to keep it this way.

Much worse than America: their government might be crazier but there is actual resistance, unlike here where the majority response is sullen apathy. It’s far easier to see the end of Trumpery than it is to ever see Britain snapping out of its Children of Men phase, which was created by elite consent

Especially grim because this is a Labour government doing it, and there is no meaningful opposition. We have been deep in National Front Trumpy territory for many years now, no help is coming for a long, long time and what comes next will be much worse and uglier than this is.
this is really grim

1. Leaked Welsh Labour report shows what went wrong in Caerphilly.

2. Sec of State for Wales seemingly doesn't attend Welsh Gov summit because she wasn't given speaking roll.

3. I questioned UK Gov minister who told Wales to "be grateful" for terrible rail deal.
