It's like arguing with the Black Knight. We're all King Arthur now.

David Lynch should be avoided too. For some reason, everyone thinks Dune '84 is a good pick. It's not, and I will not be taking further questions.

🎯Kissinger embodied the banality of evil. He was soft spoken and superficially respectful, and he could use his intellect to buffalo people very easily. Miller has none of that; he's a living cartoon.

I just stumbled across a fun performance he gave on the old Wonder Woman show with Lynda Carter.

The moment I knew there was a real problem at CBR was when Averdon used the term "limitless growth."

If Disco had failed that first season, we would probably be talking about Star Trek in the past tense now. It saved the franchise. ❤️🖖

It's funny; I'm a movie critic and my last job could be legitimately categorized as "professional Star Wars expert." I pointedly held my tongue during the recent Star Wars ranking trend on Bluesky for the exact reasons you're describing.

🎯💯 Star Wars is really its own genre at this point: a gigantic sandbox for all kinds of storytelling. People can celebrate that and play in it, or they can decide which piles of sand they don't like. One of those options is much more fun.

Here's hoping. 🤞 The rise of the internet feels like the big difference there? Maybe millennials have been exposed to more perspectives and POVs from there, especially in the early days when it was less weaponized? I'm speculating, but it would explain the shift.

Some of it's simply middle age. People turn 40 and enough of them have the nice job and the decent bank account to start thinking the system isn't so bad. (I'm Gen-X and I see this in my peer group reasonably often. Other factors too, of course, but this often gets overlooked.)
