Knocking doors today in the Cambrdge Woods neighborhood and having some inspiring, in depth conversations about big, bold ideas: carceral reform, taxing the rich, the limits of individual charity, robber barons, and how we restore empathy to community. I’m honored to serve here.

I’m glad to be part of a community committing to driving our ICE at every opportunity. ICE is inherently harmful, only two decades old, and should be abolished.

Today, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is holding the 1st of two meetings on its four proposals for the future of I-794.

I remain deeply disappointed that these are the only options presented to us by DOT.

Republicans cutting of SNAP benefits has nothing to do with the government shutdown and everything to do with cruelty. Intentional cruelty to the 1 in 4 residents of Milwaukee county who rely on foodshare to feed their families.

Solitary confinement is torture — but in Wisconsin and in most of the country, it’s regularly applied to people in prisons as retribution, without oversight or transparency. (1/3)

This Indigenous Peoples' Day, I joined the efforts of indigenous leaders from around Wisconsin, led by State Representative Vincent Miresse, advocates from WISDOM Wisconsin, and many other allies, to propose extending the Rights of Nature to every part of Wisconsin.

Here are my remarks. (1/3)

Thank you to WISDOM Wisconsin, MOSES, FREE and the many other organizations and individuals working to end solitary confinement and mass incarceration in Wisconsin. The testimonies and answers from directly impacted people - not political expediency - should be guiding our legislation.

…elements of their party, including this email from Senator Nass (in reply to my email thanking them). Today all of them, even the ones that voted for it in commitee, voted to strip the amendment back out.

We have to do better.
