The current reality - of criticial infrastrucure warfare and sabotage by means that avoids necessitating official declaration of war between peer nations - would appear to be directly inspired by this paper authored in 2020. "Breaking Other People's Toys: Sabotage in a Multipolar World."

Undoubtedly why so much of the Western ruling class is freaking out and turning to authoritarianism, because they are deeply aware that any serious and legitimate conflict with an overmatched opponent will cause the present domestic tensions to boil over into real threats to the established order.

Even in a scenario which imagines a settlement of the Ukraine conflict, the push for militarism is unrelenting.
