I think they make party member character development awkward pacing-wise, they make it so a lot of characters don't properly interact with each other organically, and it makes it difficult for the plot to actually pay off on the party members growing and changing

I am not sure with the price point they are throwing around and the specs they revealed, but will have to see

The new classes are also experimenting with your casting stat changing with your Subclass. Witch has both a Knowledge and Instinct subclass. Changing casting stat depending on your flavor of that class is so cool!

Even like Daggerheart has some cool fixes for them. Animal Companions get their own proper character sheet if you go that route, and if you go as a combat ranger, they become Dex casters. Dex casters!!!!

Triangle Agency has corporate office job positions as classes with reality warping powers based on that job. His Majesty the Worm’s cleric uses Alchemy that lets them mimic monster abilities by crafting with their parts? So many cool ideas and WotC can barely get Ranger and Barbarian to work

Don’t get me started on class design lol. I find pathfinder 2e to be a bit cumbersome but it has some great ones. Land of Eem has “Dungeoneer” which specializes in Hirelings and dungeon navigation, building up to having their own dungeon crew staff? Some wild stuff

It is also interesting that D&D is a bit of a slow cumbersome beast that cannot really keep up with trends and innovations the way indie and smaller publisher stuff can? There is a lot of cool stuff newer games are doing that I think is really killer

I agree, and even as a disgusting Magic liker and former D&D player, it delights me that WotC basically did this to themselves due to Hasbro’s greed

I do not believe Vivi is seeing much Pioneer play? Last time I checked he was not in any tier 1 or 2 decks, but things constantly change of course

They should ban cauldron…so that the price plummets and I can snag up one or two for EDH
