I'm only 8 years in but even I recall some grand environmental visions being touted by OEMs as driving their shift. Only Rivian remains—even Elon cares more about Mars now.

It's sort of weird how in the whole EV market reorientation conversation, the concept of climate decarbonization has been almost entirely eliminated...the goal to reframe the debate as a top-down edict vs consumer choice has been eerily successful.
