And in my ongoing Yakuza 5 saga, getting to the Haruka segment is pumping the brakes on my motivation to keep going. The first rhythm gameplay felt weird and out of sync, I don't know how much of that I'll be willing to tolerate.

I'll be shocked if this album isn't in my most-played recap for this year. I have been absolutely hooked since this song showed up in one of my "for you" playlists. Such a diverse range of sounds from heavy and crunchy to light and dreamy, and they pull it all off flawlessly.

Ok, part 2 of Yakuza 5 just hit soap opera levels I was not prepared for and I almost hate to say that I am here for it.
I wish I didn’t feel the need to tiptoe around spoilers for a decade-plus-old game, but I genuinely have no idea how to gauge what I can specifically talk about for this game.

On the one hand, Ender Lilies is on sale for $10.
On the other hand, I'm not going to get right to it between my ongoing Yakuza 5 playthrough and self-imposed obligation to use Game Pass for the rewards points.

Yakuza 0 is currently $11 on Steam, which is not a historic low but it is going to be delisted in favor of the more expensive Director's Cut version soon. If you're interested, this is the time to get it for likely the cheapest price for a while. (I haven't checked 3rd party key sites though.)

I played Halo 1 for the first time about 11 years ago vs Half-Life about 5 years ago.
For me Halo was just okay, but Half-Life was really good.
With that context, I'm debating giving Halo another shot now that I have more appreciation for FPS in general to see if I "get it" now.

If Yakuza 3 was a rough first step into HD and 4 was RGG flexing their ambitions, 5 feels like when all of the pieces were in place and they put some work into refining and streamlining their experience into something more fun to actually play.
It still has a bit of PS3-jank but it's a big step up.

I find the balance between designing intrinsic and extrinsic rewards in games endlessly fascinating, and if I had the time, skill, and confidence to do so I'd absolutely write up a big, fat blog post dissecting it that nobody would ever read.
Anyway, I lean more towards intrinsic rewards. HBU?

I’ve not had a bad experience preordering from Best Buy before, but I’m still waiting for Kirby Air Riders and it apparently hasn’t even left their facility yet. Can’t even cancel it to go pick up in store when I’m in the area tomorrow. 🥲
