Fruitless bodies is a collection short and long form fiction spanning several genres. Here we have horror, scifi, a western film script, and a guy trying to save a wild tiger from poachers. These are not all winners, this is an evolution of craft and the finding of grooves.

Music is still writing, on strings and in bleeding throats. Dealing with the world and personal experience still drive JD's creativity, and he will keep standing. A future goal would be to be able to help other authors also get up from the mat and back into the fight.

With songs titled Where We Going To and In The Night Kitchen, Standing VIII Count had a sort of "eclecticore" sound combining a moody metal sound like Type O Negative and faster, poppier rock like the White Stripes (they played both Black No. 1 and Seven Nation Army in practice sessions).

Standing 8 Count is the imprint of @jdbuffington.bsky.social, but where does S8C come from?
JD played electric bass and started a band with revolving members until a sound formed. The name was the theme, the idea of "down, but not out."
