The way I want to talk about sexual violence is not the heartfelt, autobiographical exposé that has been deemed the most palatable form of discussion. I want to include it in my art, in both my horror and erotica, to talk about it beyond the exact reality of what I've experienced.

Tbh I don't think enough people have considered the alternative. There is so much sexual violence in porn because we experience so much sexual violence. Because navigating sexuality in this society includes navigating that violence and fear regularly, and that shapes our fiction and fantasy

I always see the thought process of violence in porn leads to violence in real life. Which feels very does shooting guns in video games make you do gun violence, or does listening to metal make you a Satanist.

yeah I'm talking about porn too. It is fine to be uncomfortable with noncon, it's fine to avoid looking at it. Regulating it out of the public sphere is a loss for free speech, for art, and for honest discussions and reflections on the world we live in, a world that is full of sexual assault.

that means everyone has a reason to make art about this shit, to talk about it, to process it. And we can talk about whether art or the politics of it align with our beliefs or not. And some art just sucks. But how can we gatekeep who talks about this shit that we all have personal experiences with

everyone i know has been assaulted, or supported a friend through an assault, or dealt with grooming culture, or objectification and harassment, or found out a friend was a predator. It goes on and on. In a society with so much sexual trauma everyone has a personal relationship to it.

regulating how and when and in what tone and in what art and on what platforms and what feelings you're supposed to have about it when it comes to discussing sexual assault is just a tool to suppress discussion of it. It is another way to force sexual assault back into the realm of secrecy and shame

Yeah I have compression socks to help manage POTS symptoms! It absolutely doesn't feel like it should work even though I know it does. So every time I'm like talking myself into wearing the uncomfortable socks 😂
