But oh my god, I’ve been complaining about how theaters in Japan blast the sound sooo loud for years. This was the loudest quiet movie I’ve ever seen. Thank god I carry ear plugs on my keychain or I would’ve cried 😭

The whole time I was watching, I kept thinking how this movie would probably benefit from practical effects. Specifically cheesy practical effects. Lean into it more. This movie reminded me how fatigued I am with CGI taking over.

Peak! PEAK!!! This could've been a "girls rule and boys drool" kind of story, but it's not at all. It's incredibly nuanced and so smart.

Update: after a few days, the only copy left on the trending shelf is the sample copy. And they restocked the subculture/indie shelf, where it’s also being promoted :) you can’t really see in the pic but they put out a big stack going to the back of the shelf.

Sometimes there are multiple promotional shelves. So I was talking about the “trending shelf” but this isn’t the same thing as the “(weekly) best sellers” shelf which is something a lot of people seem to confuse

One of my fav things while hiking is when there’s a group of old ladies walking in front of me because there’s a good chance they’re gonna point out some plants I would’ve missed. Sometimes I overhear them identifying the plants and I learn new things. Today I learned ヤマハッカ
