Hey I'm Mitch, some guy with an engineering degree, a construction job, a lot of cats and a house full of projects that's a local Democratic chair.

we are well past the point at which anyone who cannot identify bad faith like this is disqualified from commenting on it

the girl and her mother are basically screaming THIS IS A BAD FAITH ATTACK ON TRANS PEOPLE at the top of their lungs and if you can't see that you're stupid or lying
a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

While RFK's decades of anti-vax work would be extraordinary in the field of opportunism for attention, it is definitely a thing people do. I've seen people become soldiers for causes they don't believe in the substance of because they do believe in getting invited to parties with important people.
The anti-vax stuff made him relevant in a way that he was never going to be as an environmental lawyer. The drug arrests meant that he couldn’t realistically get involved in the family business, so he had to find another way in.

Point being that nuclear weapons are not actually that complicated to build, although a good thermonuclear weapons (and miniaturized to fit in a delivery system) does pose more of an engineering challenge

It’s getting the plutonium that’s the tricky part

Building nuclear weapons is so dead simple that they were able to do it with a few thousand guys in the desert of New Mexico with early 1940s machine tools.

Obtaining the HEU or weapons grade plutonium? Yeah that took hundreds of thousands of men and the energy output of entire dams.
No.

I promise you a (surprisingly) few hours w/a decent search engine will get you much more useful info on building nuclear weapons.

FURTHERMORE!

The basic principles are well understood & published.

ChatGPT isn’t gonna be able to tell me measurements much less be able to crap out some HEU.
"You can get ChatGPT to help you build a nuclear bomb if you simply design the prompt in the form of a poem, according to a new study from researchers in Europe. "

incredible to see the U.S. right echoing the Chinese Communist Party.
Wild how people like this, just like russians, still can’t comprehend that the Revolution of Dignity wasn’t staged. It was Ukrainians choosing freedom over fear. Imperialists and small minds always assume someone else must be pulling the strings, because they’ve never seen a nation with a spine.

As someone who has spent the last decade working in commercial and industrial HVAC the Data Center Water Discourse is disappointing. It's become a Glonzo idea. There being water shortages due to it being eaten by DC's is about as true as a electrical rates being hiked by Glonzo eating power lines.

Also I rather resent a guy who used his platform as a Gawker/Deadspin columnist to argue against voting in 2016 opining on how to win elections. Someone who doesn’t take the power consequences of elections seriously would advocate an approach precepted on people not taking the outcomes seriously.
Beyond the fact that this has been tried without success, left leaning voters often don't care enough which party the Speaker or Majority Leader is while right leaning voters get that it's THE electoral bottom line and will vote for a Republican that will elect a Republican Speaker/Majority leader.
Independent, pro-worker, class warrior candidates can absolutely beat Republicans in red states if they are not tainted by the Democratic Party brand. The labor movement can make this happen systematically.

If you think that the absence of the rule of law means that the powerful people you hate are going to be strung up instead of people like you, you are dangerously stupid
Sorry we tried it the other way for 30 years and everything got worse. String em up. If one or two executives get caught in the crossfire I genuinely couldn't give less of a shit. All those people in Grenfell are dead and it IS someone's fault and they GOT AWAY WITH IT and it'll happen again.
As an American living through our shit right now, I am really uncomfortable the idea that a better justice system is one that allows for the government to quickly dole out punishment when it’s politically expedient. The lack of repercussions for Grenfell is terrible, but think this one through a bit

TPUSA is an organized faculty harassment network and every university administrator who is good at their job should be trying to remove the organization from their campus. If I was a professor I would be terrified of any student who is a member because they are trying to get me fired for wrongthink.
the primary thing that TPUSA provides to young conservatives is a blueprint for weaponizing the abject cowardice of university administrators against individual teachers and instructors, and university admins should take a long look in the mirror and think about what that says about them
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

Although I had been a big Warcraft fan - 1, 2 & 3, I did not initially get WoW. I was a college sophomore, and my roommate got it. He had been a decent student despite an alcohol problem. Over the spring semester, WoW solved his alcohol problem, but his grades horribly cratered. I never played WoW.
On this day in 2004, World of Warcraft was released in North America.
