Exactly!! Someone on one of my project teams is very vocal about how much he hates the project so he keeps just...not doing his assigned tasks. And then gets annoyed when I don't just automatically pick them up myself. Even though we have totally different roles 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes! So the reason for copyright claiming (which is often automated) is that they want to ensure you are not just re-uploading the song in order to profit off of the music directly. So your gameplay video is transforming it rather than being a direct substitute for listening to the music standalone

Appealing will not negatively impact you!

If they don't respond to your appeal at all, it will just fall off after 30 days.

Unfortunately, any ad revenue during the copyright claim period is not returned to you though :/

That *should* get the claim lifted and monetization reinstated, unless the copyright holder is unreasonable. If they maintain their position, then there is nothing you can do further and the video just can't be monetized (unless you excise that section from the video).

Since it says "no impact" it is NOT a formal strike which is good! You can file an appeal under "Fair Use" and list "Gameplay" as the reason and then explain in the free text space that your video is a Let's Play and is transformative and is in no way a substitute for the in-game music.
