Exploring spirituality and ageing, Russian language and art. Kindness and truth matter and so does social care reform.
Looking forward to hearing Sholto Kynoch's reflections, so soon after the glorious Oxford International Song Festival. All welcome 8.15pm at St Andrew's Church, Old Headington @oldheadington.bsky.social @headingtonnews.bsky.social

Yesterday saw the 144 uplifting Icons for Hope and Faith at Westminster Abbey. A powerful expression of the core Christian message of love and sacrifice for others. Here Julian of Norwich by Juliet Venter and St Francis by Otto Pang.

My first visit to @nationaltrust.org.uk Buscot Park and the delightful Faringdon collection. Amongst the treasures I found this by ‪@ravilious1942.bsky.social‬ - not his best but unmistakeable.

Just back from two weeks in the US. Across 3 States everyone I met was depressed and fearful about the future of their country. The dizzying slide into #dictatorship is all too clear. Good to see this memorial still standing In Central Park.

I've been reading this a chapter at a time for months. Kostyuchenko's discomforting illumination of places & people is best tackled in bites. Just read a searing account of Russian women searching for the bodies of their menfolk killed in Donetsk where, officially, there were no Russians.
