Value study with watercolors from 2021. Had the reference in b/w, could only use what was already on my palette, no color mixing, no real skin tones, only values. End result is really interesting, if not somewhat zombie looking, haha.

I did this a couple times after too. It's super fun to focus only on values and not color, while also using color. A really good and unique challenge that gives some wild results. Do recommend :)

You can do this digitally too! I had my window settings in greyscale, so everything I painted looked b/w, but was actually color. I chose colors based on the values I needed. I kept it hidden until the end & got this amazing surprise!

It's dry, and done! :D Had to tear off the first page since it was stuck to the front cardboard piece lol, but it works :D And I can always reuse the backing when I go through all the pages too.

Ah man, would be so fun to do this with legit tools too. One day 😊

A handmade notepad using regular computer paper, a not-so-great black and white printer, with backing made from a used up watercolor paper pad. The printed artwork is a charcoal sunset palm tree drawing of mine, lightened so you can see your writing, with horizontal lines. I used mod podge for the glue. Everything is uneven and VERY handmade but I made it so I love it :)

Okay, thanks to a pep talk from @ultralee0.bsky.social, I'm yolo'ing! The quality is DEFINITELY (lol) not good enough for sale, but it's good enough for me x3

Right?! I use notepads ALL the time too. How fun would it be to make your own? I don't have a color printer though, but maybe I could give it a go with b/w? 🤔

I used to make my own buttons to sell at cons, but it wasn't great for my wrist and sales weren't worth it, so I sold the equipment. 😅

Ah man, watching YT videos on making products at home (like bookmarks and notepads) has me like 🥺 I've tried & failed for years to make a successful business with my art, so I know it wouldn't be worth the investment to buy all the equipment needed to make these products, but it still has me like 🥺
