People don't remember stewardesses handing out gum and hard candy because jets were not comfortably pressurized and your ears would pop. If the flight was long enough, you got a movie on a screen, with plastic earphones that sounded like you were listening through a tube. That was it.
It was. In the 70’s, a domestic RT cost upwards of $550 (approx $3500 in today’s $)
BUT (!!) they handed out playing cards & plastic wings to kids so you can see where the budget went 😉 They didn’t squish you or fee you to death either.
