Just paraphrasing UK media, including BBC

Does anyone remember this kind of coverage of Tories, when, for 14 yrs, they were lying through their teeth, directing untold billions of public money to their friends etc?

The war will end when Russia stops fighting. Therefore, pressure has to be put on Russia, so that they stop believing that they will win. Why is that so hard to understand?

@tillathenun.bsky.social Do you have any advice as to where I can find a reliable EV charger installer? I've checked the .Gov and Checkatrade recommendations and there is no local overlap!!
I have a charger installed by an electrician but it occasionally trips out and I would like it checking over.

I never said these things. At least not intentionally to hurt. And any way I didn’t do these things 49yr ago. And all those who think I did are not correctly remembering things I didn’t say, however hurtful they were.
Or weren’t. 49 yr ago.

“record numbers of overseas-trained doctors are quitting the UK, leaving the NHS at risk of huge gaps in its workforce, with hostility towards migrants blamed for the exodus.”

Those who blame ‘immigrants’ for their issues with the NHS are going to get even more cross, aren’t they?

Thanks Nige….

Well, this is pretty terrifying. The Daily Mail is buying the Telegraph.

One massive consolidated right-wing media empire controlled by off-shore interests at a critical moment in global politics.

What could go wrong?

you'd see a similar thing if you looked at the acceptance of claims, or the percentage of the population who are refugees (less than 1%, below the world average)

the uk is a normal-to-ungenerous country when it comes to helping those fleeing war or persecution

Labour is enabling Farage’s agenda by trading principles for soundbites.

Rules and controls are necessary - but rules without humanity corrode trust and fuel division.

The measure of a civilised country is not how many people it turns away but how it treats the most vulnerable.

“How many refugees have been granted asylum in the UK?”

Most people overestimate the number - by a lot. With far-right figures spreading misinformation, it’s hard for the public to know the truth.

Watch the video to see just how wide the gap is between perception and reality.

No-one seems to recall that the Tory proposal wasn't for a processing centre in Rwanda, or for deportations of failed asylum seekers there, but for asylum seekers arriving in the UK to be sent to Rwanda and then treated as applicants for asylum *in Rwanda*. That's a huge difference.

100% right. There is so much about this whole BBC saga that is simply mad but Lewis is right that the Corporation now has the chance to take a stand for something important. It should take that opportunity.
Have written for the New Statesman about why, if he will not accept an apology, the BBC should welcome a Trump lawsuit. They should show guts and fight it because impartially matters and if they don't, they will have tacitly accepted a rewritten history.

Trump says that the BBC ‘changed the words that came out of my mouth’.
They didn’t.
That’s a misrepresentation of the facts.
They didn’t even change the sentiment.
They did omit a reference to ‘peaceful’ action. But that, whilst there, was not representative of the whole tenor of the speech.

In a world without the BBC, how will we know what is true and what is truly haplening in the world?

Our only source of information (misinformatio) will be the billionaire-owned media.

The BBC has been gravely damaged by 14 years of the Tories.

But we desperately need it to be functioning properly
Is the BBC worth saving at this point?
