Devastating news from Manchester 💔

At this point this is just summoning a radical reimagining of Company in a lift and Bobby baby wandering around Manhattan. But with blood.

Hugely proud to have a chapter in this collection! I explore the missing history of theatre cleaners, often a women's history, and traced the fragments of their lives that remain.

We spoke to Laura Hamer about her free course with @openuniversity.bsky.social 🎶

It includes interviews with experts in the field championing the music of women composers, advocating for greater gender equity within the classical music industry 📣

“When considering why the representation of works by women composers within classical music performance is so low, people often point to the barriers to programming more of their works, such as lack of knowledge of the repertoire, performance editions of their works not being available, and perceptions about audiences not being interested in hearing this music.” Laura Hamer, Senior Lecturer in Music at The Open University. Research Shorts.

Also can we stop with the "unproven" claims and just say what it is. False claims. Lies.

If you go into the event via teams calendar you should get a breakout rooms option, and you can pre set them up. There are some limitations with it but it should work? share.google/5t5tvIXDnDBT...

Surprised we've not had a complete edited collection on the social cultural significance of Colin the caterpillar cakes. I will write the Christmas mini Colin chapter.

This is a hugely important report which gathers together devastating testimony about what is happening and being experienced across the LGBTQ community, and the way in which our trans family are being segregated in daily life. Please take a moment to write to your MP.

A concrete thing every UK person who cares about trans rights can do right now:

1. Email a link of this report to your MP, with highlights from the executive summary in your email. Ask them what it means for your constituency and their party - highlight trans people's legally mandated human rights

Needs to be widely shared with cisgender people, especially politicians. Utterly horrifying that Britain has come to this- that most of Britain is just looking the other way while a whole community is being eliminated from society because of lies and hatred. transactual.org.uk/wp-content/u...

I think there are wider problems about understanding scale (e.g. deaths during COVID) it becomes invisible when you can't see them - so these figures also aren't keeping track of how the rest of the population is dying/being born. So the "invasion" rhetoric is fed by underlying silence.

Word of advice for coming back from leave. If all those emails didn't come in during one day, you cannot actually answer them in one day either. Breathe.

What's your favourite niche album? I'm not talking Ella sings Gershwin here, we are thinking the Supremes sing Rogers and Hart, the Disco Sondheim album... rock anthems from your Grandad's shed... the more specific the better
