It wasn’t until I came back to it as an adult that it occurred to me that a dragon that hatched, impressed and then died would be psychologically destroying a child in process and maybe the adults didn’t think that was a good gamble.

I just checked in the book and that line comes further after the fact than was thinking. It’s ambiguous whether F’lar considers their ongoing sexual relationship to be rapey, or just that first time, when he wasn’t being gentle.

The way I remember it, that reflection came AFTER the mating flight sex was over, so he wasn’t still doing it… but not in a “this occurred to him and he stopped” sort of way.

I distinctly remember the passage where F’lar muses that, “if the dragons hadn’t been involved, it might almost be called rape” standing out to me, but I didn’t make much of it.
Little!Me was just like, “Hm🤔 Anyway, back to the DRAGONS.”

Good for him. Though I don’t really expect his lecturing skills o have much effect unless he decides to start excommunicating congress members.
Even then, I don’t know how many Catholic politicians are more Catholic than politician.

My fencing coach used to chew people out for taking painkillers for an injury and them fencing.
