I'd never seen the show when it was on air, and I can't speak for whether this was true of the UK airing or just US. But I can definitely imagine how a flow can be broken when things are out of order. Imagine if that was done with Pokemon.

I think most of the devs had had to fight Miyamoto to get ANY backstory to anything Mario related. Him and his table flipping.

And I know we have the storybooks, this could be further flavour to that.

Oh I've seen Annihilape, I love that thing! I'd actually started an image with a bunch of Mankeys, a big butch Primeape, and an Annihilape drifting in the background. It didn't meet my standards, but chances are I'll try again at some point!
