Moosekiller Barbie opened the clown-car doors. The media fell so in love with her wackiness that John "MAVERICK!" McCain got overshadowed by his running mate. The crazier she became, the more the media and proto-MAGAts ate it up. Trump was the next logical step, and the rest has been crazier still.
