This is interesting.

It seems the ill fated Series 30 will go ahead. The #SSTV transmissions will come from from #RS-38S rather that the #ISS.

Transmissions will be on #UHF #70cms and the mode will be #Robot36.

Images will be lower resolution, the usual PD120 is 640x496 while Robot36 is 256x120

If you missed out on the chance to get the SSTV Series 30 images via the ISS, there's an event coming up to fulfill that need.

Satellite RS-38S will begin transmitting these images "within the next 5-7 days". Not all details are finalized, but what we know is below!

The ARISS ops teams have shared an update on the status of the radio equipment in the Service Module (Russian Segment) of the ISS.

The Columbus module based radios (Cross-band voice repeater and HamTV) continue to function nominally.
A photo and informational graphic from the Amateur Radio on the ISS (ARISS) program shows a Kenwood D710E ham radio transceiver and microphone newly installed inside the ISS Service Module (Russian segment). The display reads 145.800 MHz. Overlaid text provides an official update as of 20 November 2025: Service Module Radio Update on status of the packet system on the ISS as of 20-Nov. The original Kenwood D710GA radio has been replaced with the onboard spare D710E (shown in the photo). This radio will support Russian school contacts and serve as backup communications. Additional testing of the original D710GA will be conducted to determine the root cause of the recent outage that occurred during an SSTV event. Whilst it is not be what we wanted to hear it is not unexpected. As we said in a previous post any problem that stopped #SSTV from the #ISS for this long was unlikely to be solved in the activity period

We will keep watching for any updates, but our uninformed opinion is that any problem that keeps #SSTV from the #ISS off the air for this long is probably not going to be resolved before the scheduled activity period expires

We hope the technical teams @arissintl.bsky.social can resolve the problem

Here's an update from ARISS regarding SSTV Series 30.
The message reads: Here's update from the ARISS team regarding this event as of Saturday 15-Nov at 19:00 UTC Thank you to the ham radio community for your ongoing patience as SSTV has been offline since starting on Wednesday. Troubleshooting efforts are underway, with the solar storms adding complexity. U.S. teams are awaiting official guidance from the ARISS Russia operations team regarding next steps. Those who successfully received images early in the event and submitted them to the gallery have received their certificates. We will provide updates as soon as new, official information becomes available.

We will rerun the pass predictions for the upcoming #SSTV activity scheduled for 03/10/25 - 06/10/25 to see if this reboost of the #ISS has also affected the passes over the #GX4WAW clubhouse in #IO81qk

Today the South Bristol Amateur Radio Club were at the former Midsomer Norton South railway station operating #GB0SDR as part of Railways on the Air marking the 200th anniversary of the first passenger train service

We had great fun and members will be back on site tomorrow

The next ARISS SSTV weekend will start on Fri. October 3. Series 29 will be 6 images related to Space Week!

The event will take a break for a scheduled contact Saturday, see the full schedule in the graphic.
The Space Week SSTV Event, Series 29, begins on October 3, 2025, featuring 6 images transmitted from the ISS on 145.800 MHz using PD120 encoding. Transmissions occur in two windows for a school event, with tentative times: - **First Window**: Oct 3-4, Start Fri 14:00 UTC (10:00 AM Eastern), End Sat 10:00 UTC (6:00 AM Eastern). - **Second Window**: Oct 4-6, Start Sat 11:00 UTC (7:00 AM Eastern), End Mon TBD. The same images will be sent in both windows.

The installation of HamTV is on the ISS work schedule for next week. Successful completion could mean test transmissions going out beginning on Tuesday.

The image shows a HamTV unit, part of the amateur television system on the ISS, with a schedule for installation on Tue, 29-July, from 07:55 to 09:55 UTC (3:55 to 5:55 AM ET). A successful install should have the unit active and transmitting a carrier. Reception reports are requested via social media. HamTV uses MPEG-2 video with DVB-S protocol, transmitting on 2395 MHz (2.395 GHz), primarily for educational contacts. The ARISS Series 28 SSTV event is wrapping up. Thanks to the 3,300+ listeners across all continents that participated.

You can upload Series 28 images to the SSTV gallery at: ariss-usa.org/ARISS_SSTV/
The SSTV Series 28 Recap highlights a successful event with participation from all continents. Key points include: - Over 8,650 images submitted, up from Series 27, with 3,300+ users contributing. - 47% of submissions were from educators or students. - Image submissions by continent: Europe 42%, Asia 23%, North America 12%, South America 8%, Oceania 4%, Africa 1.3%, Antarctica 0.01%, Not provided 10%. - Awards certificates can be submitted to ARISS-USA.org/ARISS_SSTV, with a deadline a few days after the event. Certificates are emailed within 72 hours of submission end. Thank you to all participants!
