Haven’t posted about the recent voting results (tl;dr I am on a personal accountability journey and focusing on US politics no longer feels like an effective use of time that way) but a friend of mine is very concerned about Mamdani, etc., and I put my feelings together in a way I’d like to share.

There’s absolutely a question of whether it’s right or fair that we are held to those values which are a higher standard than any other people in recorded history. And if we were fully honoring our values and people were still being antisemitic pieces of shit then I would be vastly more inclined to say “ok it’s time to throw the fuck down.” But the personal accountability mode of thinking — the mode of thinking demanded by G-d — means I have to start with me and asking am I living the right values and helping others do the same? Bc otherwise my conduct is still blameworthy, and if that’s the case im just making everything harder for myself and further entrenching the conflicts and misunderstandings that are all piling up into everyone fearing and hating each other. ANDY: Put simply: if we can’t defuse the fear and hate in our own hearts about them, we have no right to expect them to do that for us.
