Thai basil (horapha) isn't the same as holy basil (krapao). In the West, getting real holy basil is difficult so Western Thai restaurants will often substitute Thai basil/regular Italian basil.

Opinions vary, but some Thai chefs say that Italian basil is a better option.

If you've had good Southern fried catfish then you know. This was farm raised.

The flip side is you have better access to fresh Pacific seafood that we can only dream of.
