The government doesn’t let this version of White Christmas get a lot of commercial play in retail because it’s simply too good and people would get down too hard in public

Oldest and I went to see Knives Out III yesterday and now I just want to talk about it with The Dude but HE WASN'T THERE and I have to wait until he sees it in a couple of weeks and my god it's going to be hard not to let something slip.

The Benoit Blanc trilogy might end up as one of the best artistic statements on the diseased conservatism of our era, and l think Wake Up Dead Man is my favorite of the trilogy, largely because it’s Rian Johnson trying to understand Christianity and its adherents more than having a definitive take.

The proposed Chicago city budget has a $5 million line item for a ShotSpotter replacement. Abandoning this failed pursuit would free up the funds needed to maintain 2025 funding levels at our city libraries, which would still leave the libraries underfunded but would avoid disastrous proposed cuts.

I think it's important to say every time that Americans have been frightened of Black Haitians since the Haitian Revolution succeeded because the Haitian fight for freedom inspired enslaved people across the Americas and showed colonizer slaveholders that sometimes we win. They're still scared.
DHS has announced the end of temporary immigration protections for Haitians.

The decision, effective Feb. 3, 2026, affects up to more than a half million Haitians. They now face returning to a country plagued by criminal gangs that control all major roads into the capital Port-au-Prince.
Trump says Haiti no longer meets requirements for TPS. Haitians have to leave
The Department of Homeland Security said TPS for Haiti ends Feb. 3, 2026, affecting over half a million people who may face return to gang-controlled Port-au-Prince.

I'm drawing every day but mostly for projects that are in progress so I'll probably use this year's #ArtAdventCalendar event to look back at my favorite drawings I did this year, starting with this one! I had the idea of the outline of a white cat against a garden and it slowly evolved into this.

This They Might Be Giants TONIGHT SHOW performance of "Birdhouse In Your Soul" from 1990 remains firmly lodged in my noggin thanks to the Tonight Show Band's full commitment and Doc Severinsen's incredible trumpeting... It took an already great song and made it transcendent.

Some good-looking suggestions in the replies (my library hold list is now full!) - I'm on the lookout for a good slow-cooker cookbook if anyone has recommendations.
Sound off good cookbooks in the responses, everyone give someone you know a cookbook and maybe they will give you one and we can survive the cyber apocalypse
