You are entitled to your opinions, but I don't accept opinions you yourself did not formulate.

Either play it, or don't--Reviews should inform your decision to buy the game, not your opinions on the game itself.

I'm not saying you can't dislike Prime 4, but, please play it before making statements about it. If you haven't played it, or don't intend to judge it by your own experiences, then you really shouldn't take part in criticism related discussions.

Something fresh, something new. But what I want right now, what I've wanted since 2009 when I finished Prime 3, is a new Prime game. And this, is exactly that.

Also, the Gyro-Controls manage to be *Almost* as good as the Prime 3 controls. So... Win?

Prime 4 is a revival, not an evolution.

The worst thing it COULD have been, is an entirely new and different game with the Prime name--People would have rioted.

What I want in the future, is this new team to take their experience on Prime 4, and Prime Remastered, and make a sequel to Prime 4.

Overall, I think Prime 4, from what I can see, played it a bit safe--But that's understandable, considering this new Retro Studios team hasn't developed a Prime game together, and they had the task of reviving the franchise after 17 years. I can't say I blame them.

--and I continue as usual.

I like the Galactic Federation though, I even enjoyed the characters in Other M my first time around. I enjoyed Federation Force. BUT, if you don't like the Galactic Federation, or a guy calling you up and talking to you every now and then, this will probably annoy you.

--a way to break up the pace a bit. Again, I need to play the whole game before I decide if that's a problem or not.

Now, the elephant in the room--The Galactic Federation!

...Which for me, is a non-problem. They're out of the way most of the time, offer some dialog that can be ignored--

--plenty of places I cannot yet go into, because I lack an upgrade. So, I don't know if that'll be a major problem with the game overall, or just something that bothers me slightly early on.

I do find it a bit odd how little mini-bosses there have been. A couple more minor-bosses would've been--

The area design has been a bit simple, more or less being a straight path with very little significant branching paths to take. As a result, they feel a bit like going in a straight line to a goal, rather than exploring a labyrinth. BUT, I still have two more areas to explore--AND, there's been--

That's not to say this one doesn't bring anything new to the table--Nor is it to say what it brings is necessarily bad. The motorcycle is fun, I don't really think it's that interesting, but it reminds me of riding Epona through Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time. It's a fun way to go from Point A to B
December 6, 2025 at 4:11 PM
In the end, what we got, I can see ideas from each game here in Prime 4, but, it certainly doesn't have the big interconnected world of Prime 1, and is much closer to Prime 3 in exploration--There was a time that I would've hated that, but I've come to appreciate Prime 3 and don't really mind.
December 6, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Waiting for Prime 4, part of me expected them to go back and redesign the core gameplay from scratch, another part of me thought they might just make Prime 4, the closest to Prime 1 and focus back on isolation and exploration, and start a new "Trilogy".
December 6, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Prime 3 had the biggest of the stories, it was the finale of a trilogy, more cinematic, more climatic.

All three games offered their own flavor of a Prime game, but at their core, they didn't actually play all that differently from one another, for better or for worse.
December 6, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Each Prime game has offered the same experience in a different way, Prime 1 had a labyrinth of a world, that offers a sense of isolation and exploration.

Prime 2, was like a gauntlet of combat challenges, in a hostile world that wanted you dead.
December 6, 2025 at 4:11 PM
All that to say, this game, has been exactly what I expected it to be.

But, where some might call that a problem, this game has also been exactly what I *wanted* it to be.

Where some might want a new Prime game to be be completely fresh, entirely new--I don't want that.

Nintendo doesn't usually make sequels for the sake of making them, so the biggest surprise of this game, has been the lack of surprises in the gameplay department. This one doesn't reinvent the wheel, and in some ways, it even feels a bit like a technological step back from Prime 3.
December 6, 2025 at 4:11 PM
The biggest compliment or insult you can give this game, depending on who you ask, is that, at its core, it is simply a new Metroid Prime game.

It is probably the least inventive Nintendo game in a long time, but then again, we haven't had a new Prime game in a long time.
