ABC 7 Eyewitness News published a video at the time of the Hollywood star. The pickaxe is in the exact same location as in the photograph currently being shared online.

But this photo is old. A quick reverse image search shows it was first published in 2018 when Trump's star was destroyed with a pickaxe.

You’re making a really good point - most misinfo we see isn’t complex and wouldn’t take a lot to check. In this case, it’s just watching the footage.

But because it’s emotive and the shock factor involved, folks tend to share without taking that step back.
