Yesterday, I also visited St John’s Catholic Primary School, speaking to students and answering any questions they had. It's great to engage with local schools, and help the children understand the role of an MP and what I do for their local area.

On Tuesday, I made some more contributions in the Housing, Communities and Local Government Select Committee. Here, I was questioning the Chief Executive Regulator of Social Housing, Fiona MacGregor, about what they're doing to protect tenants.

As part of UK Parliament Week, I went to visit Bishop Carpenter School in North Newington, where the children asked some very engaging and thoughtful questions. I also met with Headteacher Nicola Stevenson, and was able to see the school and their facilities. Thank you for the warm welcome.

Following a survey I asked local businesses to complete, I have requested a meeting with the BID team, in order to try and improve their services for local businesses. I am grateful for everyone who took the time to leave their thoughts, and I will follow up these responses and push for action.

SEND - I know SEND provision is something that concerns lots of parents, and I am very aware of these issues. I held a Q&A session last week speaking to parents about these issues (see here - ??). and also raised the issue on the Politics South sofa on Sunday. I know things need to change.

Please see here my piece on economic growth in Banbury, which I spoke on last week. seanwoodcock.uk/growth-on-th...

I will always prioritise economic growth in Banbury, Chipping Norton, Charlbury and our villages.

Banbury and North Oxfordshire is full of young people with potential.

New funding announced at the Budget means our small and medium-sized businesses can take on apprentices under 25 for free, helping that talent turn into real careers.

I have written to Cherwell District Council as a matter of urgency to ask them to look into supporting Banbury Baby Bank & Banbury Uniform Exchanges with their search for a new venue in Banbury.

I will be discussing this matter with the leader and Chief Executive of Cherwell on 5th December.

After raising the safety issues caused by HGVs parking on Overthorpe Road in Banbury, I am pleased that Oxfordshire County Council will investigate the provision of waiting restrictions on Overthorpe Road next year. Thank you to the constituents who raised this issue with me.

Yesterday, I met with Minister Hamish Falconer at his office in the FCDO to discuss the Middle East and International Aid. This is something which many constituents have emailed me about, so it was good to represent their views.

It was great to attend the Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary's Church, Banbury, last Friday. Plenty of early Christmas spirit, and it was lovely to be welcomed there.

Immensely proud that the Chancellor scrapped the two-child-benefit cap in the Budget today, which will benefit the 2050 children in the Banbury constituency who have been impacted by this policy.

Incredibly proud to get a shout out from our Chancellor of the Exchequer at her Budget today, based on the work I've been doing regarding people whose pensions became insolvent through no fault of their own. These people will no longer lose out as a result of inflation.

SEND - I know this is a very important topic for parents within the constituency, and I appreciate things needs to change. I recently held an SEND roundtable event with those affected by SEND issues, to hear their views and to listen to their concerns. This is something I am taking seriously.

Today is White Ribbon Day, standing up against violence against women and girls. Crime statistics in England and Wales show that most violence against women and girls is done by men. I have been wearing my white ribbon in aid of this around Parliament.

I am glad that an individual has been arrested in connection with the illegal waste dumping in Kidlington. The incident has rightly provoked outrage over the potential consequences for the community and environment, and I am pleased that justice has been delivered.

Many thanks to everyone who submitted a Christmas Card entry for my Christmas card competition! There were so many amazing drawings, that all really captured the Christmas spirit. Here's me looking through some of the entries yesterday. Hardest decision of the year so far!

I am appalled by the illegal waste dump in Kidlington. I am glad that the Environment Secretary has put pressure on the Environment Agency, and I am pleased they are now installing additional barriers to prevent pollution of the River Cherwell.

It was great to visit FEDCAP, to hear about the success of the DWP Restart Scheme, followed by a tour of the office to see how local people are being supported into employment.

I also joined their Banbury Community Roundtable, alongside Jobcentre Plus, DWP, and Cherwell District Council.
November 25, 2025 at 12:01 PM
On Sunday, I appeared on BBC Politics South. I spoke on a few different topics (will be posting more videos soon). Here, I spoke about local businesses, and what we can do - and what we are doing - to help them thrive.

I was pleased to join Alzheimer's Research UK in Parliament recently for their #DementiaUnseen event, celebrating the voices of over 67,000 people who’ve called for those affected by dementia to have the right to an early and accurate diagnosis.

Between the 27th and 29th November, @Tesco are hosting a Winter Food Collection. It would be great for local people to volunteer or donate essential items where possible! See more info here - www.trussell.org.uk/support-us/t...

For too long, areas like Banbury and North Oxfordshire were less likely to get essential funding for our local services.

By putting local need at the heart of new council funding, the Labour Government is righting that wrong.

I’ll be campaigning to ensure Banbury gets the funding it deserves.

I’m really pleased to share some positive news for commuters in Banbury, Chipping Norton, Charlbury and surrounding villages.

For the first time since the ‘90s, Labour is freezing national rail fares. That will mean savings for people across the country.
