Sketchy black and white comic. "Blind Date with a Human"
Human and vampire at sitting at a small table, both with wine glasses. Vampire is drinking something red while the human is drinking white wine.
Black-haired vampire asks his date: "So- you're a professor?"
Flustered 35-40 year old human man responds: "Uh... yes...:
Vampire is looking at the human's throat quite intently. He asks: "What do you teach?"
Professor responds with: "Botany..." then says: "Um... excuse me..."

Second page of comic.
Vampire asks: "Hmm?"
Human says, with hand scratching back of head: "You're staring so intently... Sorry... I got here right after work so I couldn't "freshen up"- I look-"
Vampire cuts him off with: "Your neck is perfect."
Human is so dumbfounded: "...?"
Vampire swishes his glass of wine and muses: "Good texture- not too thick."
Human has his hands to his neck, now completely blushing as he listens to his date while trying to interject with: "um- wait I-"
Vampire goes on: "You see- sucking from there makes it feel as though I've just ripped out the jugular. Really muscular ones are a bit too tough on my teeth you see... Are you O-positive by any chance~? That's the best tasting one! <3"
There are sparkles around the vampire as he speaks.

Page 07:
The focus shifts to the human as the vampire is sucking blood.
The human is at first unsure what to do with his arms as they are embraced by the vampire. He puts his hands on the vampire’s back and lightly grips his turtleneck top. He looks a little stunned for a moment, but smiles- his eyes showing a bit of crow’s feet.
There’s a slight top-down view of the two in the dark apartment.

Page 08:
A bit of time has passed.
The vampire releases his teeth from the human’s neck. Blood can be seen on his teeth and the human’s neck where the teeth had entered.
Vampire: Aah… How refreshing…
He pulls away and looks at the human with a satisfied face and slight blush.
Vampire: I think that should suffice- how’re you feeli-
The vampire’s expression morphs to surprise.

Page 09:
The human is tipping over backwards slightly, his hands on the vampire’s back and shoulder. He is flushed but his eyes look a little unfocused and drowsy.
Human: I feel… a little…
He abruptly seems to buckle, with the vampire catching him mid-fall.
He slumps forward onto the vampire’s shoulder, his glasses falling off.
Vampire: Whoa!
The human is now unconscious and still flushed.
Vampire: Did I- DID I JUST KILL HIM?!

Page 04:
The human yelps: Sorry! I don’t want to do a-anything like that tonight…
Vampire is teary-eyed (comical), and thinks: He’s really… pummeling my pride.
Vampire, however, is cool in front of the human. He has stopped sucking blood, faces him, and says: Ah- it’s okay, my apologies- I should’ve asked! I just wanted to make you feel good.
Human: Don’t be sorry, I appreciate it..
Human catches a drop of blood that falls from the vampire’s teeth with his finger.
Human: Ah! Hold on!
He seems to bring his finger up to his face.

Page 05:
The human licks the blood off his finger while looking up at the vampire and saying: It- it’ll stain your shirt. He is looking disheveled with his collar loosened greatly, and he is still blushing profusely. He’s looking unintentionally seductive.
This riles the vampire up- his dumbfounded look gets dumber, and he also starts to blush.
Vampire thinks: I- I won’t lose!

Page 06:
The vampire grabs the human by the arms without a word, confusing the human. Then he pulls him into an embrace as he chomps down again on his neck.
Human: Ah!
Vampire is blushing and teary-eyed (comical), and thinks: Oh I’ll take as much as I can, just short of killing you!
He swallows blood: Glug glug
Human: Does it taste all right?
The human asks with a smile as the vampire is busy sucking blood in a huff.
Vampire (thinking): May you never forget me!! How dare you look at me like that!!!

Human is in his late 30s, early 40s with graying hair. He is rather scruffy looking with glasses and a ponytail. He wears a dress shirt and pants with a belt. He has big eyes that have a highlight to them.
Vampire looks to be in his early to mid 30s. He has black hair that is mostly slicked back with some strands over his right eye. He is taller than the human, and wears a dark turtleneck. He has some hairs above his lip that do not constitute a moustache yet. He has rather fox-like facial features, and his eyes are dark and rather averted.

Page 01:
Human and vampire are in a small apartment, with their shoes taken off at the front door (one is a dark pair of loafers, the other a lighter pair of leather dress shoes). It’s dark, with no light turned on.
Human: I-It’s a bit small isn’t it? Ahh… I thought I’d tidied up better than this…
Vampire: No worries- Thank you for inviting me.
The two stand in the hall leading to the main room, the human against the wall. The vampire cups his hand on the human’s chin, before using both hands to loosen his collar. The human looks a little nervous.

Page 02:
Human looks down, blushing and asks: Um… is it ok if my shirt is on?
Vampire replies: Yes.
He looks at the human with longing eyes.
Vampire: So if you’ll have me.

Page 03:
The vampire sinks his teeth into the side of the human’s neck. He is gently running his fingers through the human’s ponytail.
Vampire (thinking): This is delicious.
He closes his eyes to savor the taste.
Vampire (thinking): Ahh… the flavor, it’s-
He catches himself with a dumbfounded look on his face.
Vampire (thinking): Wait- Don’t be taken in! I’ve got to make him regret that he rejected me!
Vampire uses his other hand to untuck the human’s dress shirt from his pants, touching his waist area.

I'm not the biggest Zenigata fan, but I'm always happy when he is portrayed more competently- it really elevates the relationship he has with Lupin and makes it very easy to cheer him on.

It makes sense his hand-to-hand combat skills overshadow Lupin's- he's just built different.

Finally watched the new Koike Lupin III film from the summer- very fun! Everything always feels so malleable and tangible in his films- especially human skin? Can't wait for the theatrical film~ The sound effects were so crisp.

Page 01:
Human and vampire are walking through a park in the city lit with lamp posts at night. They are having a casual conversation.
Human: “...I keep forgetting to eat at work…so I have a stash of choco mint cookies in a drawer…”
Vampire: “Choco mint?”
Human: “My sister used to sell them as a girl scout… so I ate a ton as a kid.”
Vampire: “Don’t you get sick of them?”
Human: “No, no! I still really like them… Reminds me of home, and I like all chocolate flavored food…:
As they talk, the human is looking forward, blushing slightly while the vampire stares at the human.

As the human talks: “Dark is my favorite but ev-” the vampire loses focus on what he’s saying.
He smiles with his fang showing.

He thinks to himself: ‘Oh I’ve worked my charm again haven’t I…? We’ll part ways without doing anything tonight- and then for our 2nd date… I’ll get my fill and give them a night to remember. But after about 2 more dates it’ll be time to bid farewell~ Humans get boring so quickly…’

He is smiling smugly to himself as illustrations of the “steps” surround him in his thoughts.
Step 1: Shows him wooing a human.
Step 2: Shows him sucking blood from an enamored human.
Step 3: Shows him flying off in a sparkle, saying: “I am an ethereal being of the night! To be bound is a travesty~” The human below is heart-broken, crying out: “Wait!!”

His thoughts are interrupted by the human saying: “Ah… it’s getting pretty late…”

Page 02:
The two are now looking at each other, mid-walk.
Vampire responds: “It certainly is- what a shame… are you free Friday?”
Human: “Oh… actually, I was wondering if you wanted to draw blood from me tonight?”
Vampire: “If you’re comfortable of-course.”
He thinks to himself: ‘Wow, right after our 1st date? But it’s not like it’s never happened before…’
His thoughts get interrupted again by the human saying: “But-uh- afterwards-”

“Let’s be friends instead.”

The vampire is caught off guard- his eyes are wide. He thinks: ‘What’
Human says: “Dinner was great and I had so much fun!”
Vampire thinks: ‘How long has it been… since I was denied a 2nd date?!’
Human continues: “You’ve been so sweet… but I don’t think we’re all that compatible…”
He is looking anxious and scratching his chin as he says this.

Page 03:
In a swirl of dark aura (in his headscape), the vampire is just so taken aback. He is standing with eyes wide.
He rapidly wonders to himself: ‘Wait… did I freak him out with all that throat talk? But he was blushing like crazy… and my past dates liked that kind of stuff.. Plus he’s fine with my drinking his blood tonight… He doesn’t seem scared of me at all… Dinner went great- he’s been talking away so enthusiastically since then… Should I ask why- NO!!! Definitely, certainly not- Wait, so I’m just getting PITY BLOOD?!’

He composes himself though, with a smile on his face he responds: “‘Friends’? That works for me too.”

The human, slightly blushing and looking at him, says: “Y-yeah…”

The last panel shows a back shot of them continuing their walk through the park.
Vampire says: “No need to be anxious over that- I understand.”
Human responds: “Oh- thank you…”
Vampire: “So my place or yours?”
Human: “///!! I- I don’t mind either way…”
Vampire: “Well, then perhaps we go t-” (dialogue trails off)
Vampire thinks to himself intensely: ‘I’ll suck him dry tonight.’

Artists who are iPad users- has getting one made you draw more away from your workspace/desk at home?

Been debating on getting one but also getting so mixed up with all the different models and whether or not it'll be worth it since I have a dedicated workspace (cintiq).

Of-course I'm sure there are politics and the culture of the Japanese animation industry that are in play, but Yonebayashi leaving to establish Studio Ponoc seems to tell me that Studio Ghibli is and was intended to be an auteurs' studio much like Studio Chizu.

Maybe I'm being harsh but I think your guess is the most logical end to a studio that does not seem all too invested in cultivating new talent. With Kondo's death being seemingly brought on by overwork and the studio's filmography dominated by two directors, it seems inevitable.
