In Europa verboden gifstoffen gaan op grote schaal naar armere landen

Europese bedrijven exporteren steeds meer pesticiden die in de Europese Unie zelf verboden zijn omdat ze gevaarlijk zijn voor mens en natuur. Er zijn nog geen wetten om dit te voorkomen.

Europa moet dringend haar verantwoordelijkheid opnemen en een einde maken aan de export van gevaarlijke pesticiden die het zelf niet toelaat op Europese velden. Als we die producten niet willen aantreffen op geïmporteerd voedsel, moeten we ze ook niet exporteren.

This action was the start of an intensive week of advocacy denouncing the double standards on pesticides of EU. Our colleague Medius Bihunirwa from PELUM Association testified on the devastating impacts of hazardous pesticides in Africa. She did so as well at 6th EU-AU agric ministerial.

Minister Prevot beloofde al om van voedselzekerheid en de transitie naar duurzame voedselsystemen een prioriteit te maken in zijn beleid. Daar moeten ook voldoende middelen tegenover staan.

We strongly support an export ban on #pesticides not allowed in the EU, as expressed by @christophehansen.bsky.social.
65 pesticides banned in the EU continue to be allowed on imported products. Tighter controls on banned pesticide residues are urgently needed.
