Roy De Forest was one of a group of artists whose work developed around a personal iconography that became identified in the 1960s and 70s as Bay Area Funk. The title of this varnished polymer on canvas refers to Zane Grey (1872–1939) the author of many popular novels about the Old West.

Air France was founded #onthisday in 1933. Did you know the symbol of Air France is the winged seahorse? Originally the logo of Air Orient, which merged into Air France in 1933, the seahorse with wings represented the union of sea and sky, a visual metaphor for the company's flying boats. #52menus

Art With Elders lead artist Mark Campbell is a great mentor to Kuang and he consistently encourages her to attend art class. Art brings her joy and peace and makes her feel a sense of satisfaction and confidence.

Moving to the United States was a big life change for Kuang. She could not farm here so her first few jobs included working as a seamstress and a senior caregiver. Kuang was first introduced to art at the Laguna Honda Hospital. #ArtWithElders

Yuyan Kuang was born in China in 1955. She finished elementary school in China and immigrated to the United States when she was in her forties. She worked on a farm when she was young. As a child, Kuang liked to spend time at the river, playing on the sand and enjoying the day. #ArtWithElders

#OnThisDay in 1968, the first 747 rolled out of Boeing's Everett plant. Completed in 1968, a group of Boeing employees nicknamed "The Incredibles" built the first 747-100 at the same time that the building was also being constructed. The highly recognizable style of Alvin's poster art was often referred to as “Alvinesque” by his colleagues in the movie industry. In addition to these airline posters, the long list of films for which he crafted artwork include titles such as Young Frankenstein, Blade Runner, and Batman Returns.
