A thread after my heart
If—LET’S SAY—you were programming a Sondheim marathon for someone who doesn’t know the catalog super well but has loved everything they’ve been exposed to, what would you include? Filmed productions, cast recordings, one-off YouTube videos, really anything

Movie you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

One of my neighbors has been putting up these fish facts posters. All kinds of different fish, marine, freshwater, deep, shallow, all kinds. This is a good one. “Stg this real fish” took me out. Good work, neighbor.

Here's an idea: Any Democrat who wants to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate in 2028 must pledge to rip this cabal of anti-democracy tech fascists out of our government.

Anyone who won't make that pledge is for the billionaires, not the people. This must be a deal-breaking litmus test.
A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:

I kinda loved Hamnet, though spoiler thing I didn’t like in my reply post.

I cried and I laughed, though I mostly cried. I’m also so glad to have friends who wanted to see it as much as I did.

I’ll need to read the book next.

Plus, we're reducing our Bowie's Berlin Trilogy Tote Bags from $10 to $5.

We hear music downloads make a great stocking stuffer.

In the meantime, all of us at team SW send the very best to you and yours this month—and we look forward to sharing new music with you soon.

Since it's Bandcamp Friday, but we don't have anything new for you yet... for today only, we're discounting a few of our favorite bundles: both collections of Quarantine Music, Live Albums 2008-2016, and our bundle of piano sheet music.

Friends- We hope these dark days are nevertheless treating you well, and that you have at least a bit of rest in store before the joys and horrors of 2026 lurch into gear. (As for us, we're about to master a new album, and hope/expect that later next year we'll finally return to live performing).

I'm at work looking at old music licenses we did in 1961 for a piece of music that was published in 1907 and wasn't in the public domain yet. I'm shocked.

This was before the US Copyright Act was created in 1976, so I can't imagine what a weird wild west it must have been in early TV days.

It's summer in Antarctica right now, so Minnesota is one of the coldest places in the world today (relative to typical December weather).

Record low sea ice in the Arctic means cold air there has moved south.
Coldest air on Earth today is in the US with temps up to 40 degrees below normal in the Midwest/ Great Lakes. Actual lows are as low as -20F there.
Cold US is due to widespread relative warmth in the Arctic, with record low Arctic Sea Ice extent. This “warmth” displaces the polar cold pool south.

I love seeing all of the streaming services' year-end wrap ups that people keep posting to IG and tagging us in. Though seeing all of the ones still from Spotify give me a bunch of mixed feelings - switch to another service. They're a bad company.

I upgraded my wandering vacuum after all of the brushes fell off of my old one. I think I got my old one almost 10 years ago, and man, the tech has advanced since then. This guy mapped my house, greeted me, and didn’t judge me for my mess. He may have also made me a sandwich.
