It is a service to the ecosystem as a whole, and as such totally in their scope imo (must they do it? ofc not. But you can argue they have zero obligation to provide any other service just the same)

Moreover, I assume blue checks intent is to provide value to followers of those checked, rather than checked themselves. So not checking users of others severs hurts your own users, if you allow them to follow that remote content.

Disagree: the system design already separates holding identity from storing content. You auth the former (which is transferable across hosts), and the identity is used to auth the content.

I suspect this work wouldn’t get a passing grade in a good Christian school as well.
